Formal Ghana Black Stars Captain Isaac Acquaye ‘Kicks The Bucket’

Isaac Acquaye, one of Ghana football’s most outstanding central defenders dies at the early hours on Wednesday 23rd March, 2022.

Isaac Acquaye who was popularly know as ‘Barrier’ for his robust presence in defence, particularly when he played for Accra Great Olympcs and the Ghana National Team still looking very much athletic despite his retirement from the field some 20 years ago.

Isaac Acquaye played for the National Team ‘Black Stars’ over a decade for the country. He played along side late offei ansah for Dumas Boys of GTP. After which he also played professional for AL-Ani in the UAE.

 

Legendary Isaac Acquaye acquired valuable experience in Burkina Faso where he coached Union Sportive Ouagadougou (USO) from 2002 to 2008.

During the period he helped the club to the second position three times, once to the third position and twice to fourth position. His most outstanding season was in 2004/2005 when he clinched the knockout trophy with the club, won the Champion of Champions, won a special tournament for the top four teams of the season and emerged as runners-up in the league.

After enacting those outstanding feats, the Coach of The Year award was conferred on him. “I look forward to bigger laurels in Ghana,” he said with modesty.

As a long standing faithful of the Wonder Club, Isaac Acquaye appeared persuaded by what he called “please from some fans of Olympics” to step in to help resuscitate the once buoyant force in Ghana football.

He also coach clubs like Liberty Professionals, Dawu Youngster, Okwahu United, ASFA YENEGA of Burkina faso, and many more. He was once awarded by Swag as DEDICATION AND VALOUR , He also played a major role to let Ghana lift the African Cup Of Nations hosted foe keep in the year 1978.
