Adom News reported that a 14 year old has been defiled by 5 men who attempted killing her after the incident.
The five men strangled the 14-year-old school drop-out after defiling her in turns. They intended to snuff the life out of her and when she became unconscious they dumped her in a stream believing her to be dead.
Miraculously, she survived but now walks with difficulty and has since been bleeding. The Nkawkaw Divisional Police have arrested two suspects who have confessed to the crime but are pleading for leniency.
A 25-year-old Cobbler and ex-convict Yaw Preko and a driverās mate, Mohammed Adamu, are in police custody in connection with the case.
But the girl who dropped out of school at Class 4 says she is being haunted by the incident which has left herĀ with life-threatening complications. Her revelations come as the Nkawkaw police arrest a third suspect, Awudu Kamiru, 18- a head porter.
The victim narrating her ordeal to Nhyira FMās Ohemeng Tawiah said some young men in her vicinity have also been making fun of her and all this has left her traumatized hence she feels the need to kill herself.
The Childrenās Act recommendsĀ that victims like the 14-year-girl should be supported with counselling sessions and shelter. But this is absent in the Nkawkaw area.
Chief Superintendent Sarfo Peprah admitsĀ the absence of probation officers and shelter to accommodate and counsel victims of sexual abuse and other crimes committed against children makes the healing process for victims very difficult.
