France-based Nigerian singer, Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, has revealed why she waited to have sex at 28.
The ‘Jailer’ crooner, while talking about her private life in an interview with Funmi Iyanda, said she didn’t have sex at an earlier age becase she was shy growing up and too focused on her career.
She said her preference in men kept changing, although she compromised as she grew older.
“After noticing there was a problem, I called my manager, Janet to tell her about my virginity and she was surprised that I was a very late starter.
“I also called my mum and she didn’t have any advice, she said, ‘it will be painful at first’, and I was there wondering what she was saying,” she said.
Asa added that, “I am not proud to say I lost my virginity at 28, so don’t clap for me. Perhaps one of the reasons why I lost my virginity that late was because I was shy and somewhere else where I was too focused on my career that I didn’t even think about having sex.”
